Daniel Spencer Appointed as A-Grade Men’s Coach for 2025

After the 2024 season, the University Football Club underwent extensive recruitment to find a successor for outgoing coach, Simon McDonald. The UFC is pleased to announce that Daniel Spencer has been appointed the new A Grade Men’s coach for season 2025.

Spencer, who has developed a strong coaching background across his journey, has been involved in many different levels from country footy, all the way up to WAFL level.

Spencer is no stranger to the Perth Football League, enjoying premiership success coaching for Trinity Aquinas in both the Phil Scott Colts and A Grade Men’s competition previously. After coaching Wickepin in the Upper Great Southern League, he was keen to throw his hat in the ring when he saw the opportunity back in the PFL.

“I have always admired Uni from afar. Coaching against them previously, I had great respect for how they went about it – little fanfare, but fierce competitors who loved their footy and appeared to have a special bond, I wanted to be part of that”.

After an indifferent season for the team, there’s plenty to look forward to with a talented group of players coming through the ranks. Spencer said he was excited to take on the challenge.

“I am excited to be part of a group where some great foundations have been laid in recent seasons, there’s no ceiling on what we can achieve”.

In more good news, A Reserves premiership winning coach and club favourite, Chris Ninkov, will join Spencer as Senior Assistant, forming a fantastic coaching combination after he helped deliver the club’s first 2’s flag since 2016. Both Spencer and Ninkov will hit the ground running as they plan for a big year in 2025!
