Club captain Tim “Stixy” O’Hara will play game 200 for the University Football Club in the A Grade Semi Final this Saturday against Fremantle CBC.
“We’ve run out of superlatives to describe Tim. He’s not only been one of University’s best in the last decade, but also one of the best key position players in the competition.” Jake Colvin, Club President.
Uni Footy journey
While playing at Claremont in 2012, Tim came down to Uni for a solitary game of A Colts. It was love at first site and since that time, he has gone on to play a remarkable 198 A Grade games, never playing another game outside the highest grade.
In 2013, Tim made the permanent move from Claremont to Uni and went on to play 18 A Grade games that year. His on field skills were only matched by his personality, immediately becoming a favourite within the club.
Tim played consistent great footy in his first few years at the club and was recognised by being picked to represent Western Australia on multiple occasions.
Over the last 10 years, Stixy has rarely missed a game and is likely appeared in the side more than any other player during this period.
A team-first attitude has always been the focus with premiership success achieved on three occasions (2014, 2015 & 2019).
In 2020, Stixy was made the A Grade captain and has thrived in the role. He carried the club through a difficult period, surviving relegation and cementing the side as one of the top teams in the Perth Football League.
A Versatile Big Man
In his first year at the club, Tim held down the Centre Half Forward position in a side that made the grand final.
The following year, he moved to Full Back and was a key reason the side were able to win the 2014 and 2015 flags.
He remained in the backline until this year, where he has been swung forward by A Grade Coach Simon Mcdonald. Unsurprisingly, Stixy has dominated in the forward line, leading the young side and kicking over 50 goals so far.
