AJ AND CLUBROOMS REDEVELOPMENT COMMITMENT

The UWA football club is pleased to announce that the UWA has committed $3m to the redevelopment of the changerooms at McGillivray.  The commitment was received this week and with this funding, the UWA football club can now get on with its own fundraising to enable the total redevelopment to proceed with a new clubroom and facilities for us, which will be of benefit not just to us but to the UWA community as a whole.  We thank the UWA for their support and commitment.

This is the most exciting time for the club because it means we can finally move forward with proper facilities to cater for our expanding membership to support all of our team’s, particularly with the increasing take-up of Women’s football at the UWA football club and the strong interest in the colts teams.  It will also act as a great meeting place for current and past players, a place we can be proud of, and a place we can all say we contributed to in one way or another.  This will be the impetus for other UWA clubs to do the same as part of a broad master plan for the whole of the UWA Sports Park.

The draft plan of the clubrooms will be available shortly, and the good news is that the change rooms are located at ground level in the forward pocket at McG #1, and our teams can run out of the changerooms directly on the ground, under the watchful eye and cheering of our supporters from the new “AJ” clubrooms that are located directly above. This was an important part of the plan.

Integral to the receipt of the commitment was that the UWA Development and Alumni relations team (D&A) took the lead in undertaking a capital campaign feasibility study.  The strong interest shown by our alumni and the current players in the proposed fundraising campaign was a key factor in gaining the commitment of the UWA to the project, and we certainly thank the D&A team, plus the team at UWA Sport and Recreation for their support.  It is much appreciated as it allowed us to achieve this first step in our ultimate goal.

Now, that was the easy part!  The UWA football club will be calling on your support for the fundraising campaign and we will very soon kick this off in conjunction with the D&A team, so more on this in the very near future.  The goal is $3m for the clubrooms and a further $0.5m as a capital fund.  And remember, it is not all about money (although we need it), it is about how you can help the campaign, everyone can commit their time and effort to ensure the success of the redevelopment, and the continuation of the dominance of the mighty UFC.

GLORIOUS, VICTORIOUS….
